When someone may mention hardwood floors, one thinks of a home - a cozy room with a fireplace and a beautiful warm floor. Or maybe one thinks of an office he or she once saw that looked elegant with a wood floor and old style wood desk. But we seem to take for granted that a dance studio floor will be hardwood, or a performance stage floor or a basketball court. And those, too, are elegant.

There are quite a few alternatives on the market these days for basketball courts, gymnasium floors and dance floors that are not hardwood floors. But nothing really beats a truly beautiful hardwood floor for these activities.

As a long-established flooring material for these spaces, it gives an genuine and professional look to the area. Those in charge will have to make some choices. Although it may cost more than some synthetic floor in the beginning, if well cared for, it will last lifetimes and a company, school or other organization will not regret the choice.

Consulting a professional who knows all the options about installing hardwood floors will be necessary. The decisions to be made are myriad - type of wood to use, pattern designed into the floor, grade of wood, type of finish, etc.

So how do you find the right company to install hardwood floors on such a scale? Check out various hardwood floor installers, and compare prices. That's obvious. But also look for a company that has been around for a while and is not just a fly by night affair.

The people who can do the job right and in the shortest time are the real professionals. Such a company would hire experienced journeyman installers. Just ask.

And if you already have a basketball court or dance studio floor that needs to be refinished, the same advice applies. You will have some choices to make about refinishing a floor, too, such as what finish you want, whether you want it stained and in what kind of stain. A professional can help you with these decisions by letting you know what is available.

Hire a professional - they can get the job done in less time and in a professional manner. The best job will last longer and be easier for you to maintain.
