There are three different kinds of estrogens occur in a body of a woman i.e. Estradiol, Estrone and Estriol. Estradiol is a type that is created in an ovary and later converted into another vital estrogen called Estrone. The third type, Estriol, is considered to have weak activity and has little importance as compared to other natural estrogens found in a body. This type of estrogen hormone is metabolized from Estradiol. It is found in women's body all through her life and varies on regular basis but it is usually related to pregnancy because of its huge production in women during the phase of their pregnancy.

During pregnancy the production of this hormone mainly depend on an integral maternal placental fetal unit and in pregnancy its production slowly increases to prevent body rejecting fetus as a foreign object. In Europe and Asia, this hormone is widely being used in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women under the phase of menopause. Whereas, countries like United States do not allow to use it for hormone therapy. One of the features of this drug that makes it a best choice for hormone replacement therapy is that unlike other strong estrogens it is very mild and safe to use and decreases the symptoms like hot flashes and dryness of vagina which many women face after their menopause.

After the menopause, many women suffer from decrease in bone mineral density which weakens their bones and many doctors recommends the oral medicine of this hormone which facilitate the mineral density of the bones to increase gradually. Similarly, after menopause many women suffer from recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) and a study has proved that this infection can be treated by applying the Estriol cream. Using Estriol drugs can also cause some side effects. Women who have history of this hormone, peanut or soy allergies could face swelling, rashes, dizziness or skin inflammation problem. If a woman has heart conditions like high blood pressure or previous heart attack she might experience palpitations of heart, increased clotting and blood pressure. Those women who have uterine conditions or hormone problems may experience pain while urinating, tenderness of breasts, spotting and abdominal pain. Similarly, one study reveals that high endometrial cancer risks are related with the intake of this hormone in oral form and it also has a tendency to arouse the breast cancer cell growth.
