Whichever choice you make you are sure to enjoy yourself but it will most definitely be two very different vacations!
When it comes to choosing your hotel you will want to consider the above question as your lodgings will really set the mood for your whole trip and there are definitely more economical choices depending what your plans are. If you are thinking on being out all day touring and hitting up markets for local treats and meals and really are planning to use your hotel as a place to get some shut eye then your choice will be quite different than if you are looking to have breakfast in bed, lunch by the pool and a black tie dinner with maybe a massage and a facial in between.
If you aren't planning on being around your hotel much then an all inclusive resort is not the best choice for you. You will want to look for a simple hotel that does not include meals or entertainment as part of the package deal. Obviously in an all inclusive resort the above is true as well, just because there's a masseuse on call and a gourmet dinner listed as amenities doesn't mean it's all it says it is. There are so many amazing all inclusive resorts in Mexico and many of them offer deals for groups or off season getaways so look around and be sure to get all the deals that are out there to be had then get packed for your relaxation vacation!
