What is the meaning of Hemorrhoids and in what manner may they be appropriately treated? Hemorrhoids are caused due to the sudden pressure on the rectum and anus, which could be due to constipation, lifting heavy weights and sitting for very long periods of time.

Because of these situations, pressure builds in the anus and rectal area, starting the vein bulging. Hemorrhoids are veins that are enlarged in the area of the rectum. In very advanced cases, the veins will be unable to cope with the pressure and may in fact burst and begin bleeding.

A certain mistake exists among patients that Hemorrhoids may be externally treated by application of creams and other medicine in the place that is bothered. But this concept cannot be further away from the truth. The first treatment protocol aims at stopping the symptoms which may be making the patient feel undue suffering and pain.

Bathing in lukewarm water many times during the day can reduce the pain and relax the nerves. Ice packs can be used additionally in order to lessen the swelling caused by enlarged veins. Application of petroleum jelly, cortisone creams, hemorrhoid cream can also help relieve the pain.

The anus must also be bathed following every bowel movement. If the Hemorrhoids do not respond to all these treatment methods, there are other options that can be used to treat internal Hemorrhoids.

Rubber band litigation is one of the common methods adopted in the treatment of Hemorrhoids. The process involves putting a tiny band at the bottom of a Hemorrhoid. This band halts blood supply when it gets to the Hemorrhoid which causes the death of a Hemorrhoid and it will drop off during the timeframe of a week.

The Injection Sclerotherapy process involves chemical injection in an area close to the Hemorrhoid. The chemical causes inflammation of the veins and this result in the Hemorrhoids shrinking.

Infrared light is used in the Infrared Photocoagulation procedure and this clots the veins due to which blood supply is stopped and the Hemorrhoids shrinks and falls.

Electric current is applied to the Hemorrhoids in Laser Coagulation. This electric current makes a chemical process start which also makes blood stop being provided to the Hemorrhoid. Due to lack of blood, it gradually loses its size and shrinks.

The surgical treatment option is known as Hemorrhoidectomy, where the Hemorrhoids are removed from the anal canal. All these treatments are highly effective in treating Hemorrhoids and you can choose one after consultation with your physician.
