Opening ceremonies of the Olympics are seldom of much interest to me. I quickly find myself flipping to another channel within a short period of time. If you've seen one half time sporting event(lights, music, fireworks) you've seen them all. Fortunately, it wasn't true this time. Within the first 5 minutes of the 2008 Olympic opening ceremonies in Beijing, I was totally enthralled and watched the entire ceremony, start to finish, including the parade of Olympic athletes and lighting of the torch. I was totally mesmerized in my seat. I didn't want it to end.
