The use of autoresponders helps you to be more time-efficient. You won't have to manually send a reply email to each individual who inquires about your services. Moreover, an autoresponder is a potent marketing tool. You are able to gather prospects' email addresses (the autoresponder requests for their permission) for your database. You are also able to set up multiple or sequential messages to be sent out to your prospects or clients. That is to say, the recipient will receive a continuous flow of email replies spaced out over time at specified intervals.

On the other hand, one of the disadvantages of using an autoresponder service such as Aweber is that the default email address used by people to register to your mailing list looks like this: mylistname@aweber.com. This can result to confusion when recipients fail to recognize the sender's name.

Quite often emails from unrecognized senders get deleted. Ideally, you would want the people on your mailing list to receive an email from mylistname@mywebsite.com. Not only will people be be more inclined to open it, it will also help you maintain branding consistency.

Here's a little tip so you can swing that: Set up an email address at mylistname@mywebsite.com and set it to forward to mylistname@aweber.com. It may increase the possibility of bounced emails and the like but basing on personal experience the likelihood is reduced to a bare minimum.

If you're not sure what I mean by "autoresponder", here's the Cole's notes: Basically, an autoresponder is an automatic email reply. Once you set it up, the reply gets sent when someone sends an email to a specific address or fills out a form on your website. For more details, here's an article that explains what autoresponders are and how you can use them.
