Usage and Purpose of a Scissor Lift

A scissor lift is used in number of places such as construction sites, covering and filming athletics events and in super store and warehouses to place objects high up in the cupboards. They are also used to take heavy objects high up in the air, which a normal human being cannot carry in his hands.

Scissor lifts are normally used in super stores, on construction sites, in gardens, in offices for installation of CCTV cameras, lights, rooftop fixtures and fittings.
Scissor lifts can be used in very narrow areas as well because of its shape and ease of use. Different scissor lifts can reach up to different heights. Some can reach up to 19 ft. while others types can reach up to 60 ft.

The battery operated scissor lifts can be used indoors and outdoors. Whereas fuel operated, scissor lifts can be used outdoor only.

Different types of tires can be used on different surfaces such as on indoor marble floor, a rubber tire lift can be used and on outdoor uneven surfaces, a different type of tire lift can be used.

Approximately 6 to 7 people can work on scissor lifts. It allows the weight range of 500 lbs. to 2500 lbs.
It comes in stationary and mobile versions. Stationary versions are mostly for car repair shops and mobile versions are for indoor and outdoor stores, warehouses and construction sites. Mobile versions occupy less space while stationary versions needs more space.

Accidents were and are a part of life. Many accidents occur while working on the heavy machinery such as lifts. Lifts take a person up in the air where it is difficult to get control of one's weight and foot resulting in mini to major accidents such as death. However, these accidents can be avoided by taking safety precautions and number of training programs to equip the knowledge of safe execution of the machine.
