Oftentimes a migraine sufferer is accused of exaggerating his symptoms of pain. For someone experiencing a migraine attack, this is unfair. Migraine pain cannot be dismissed as just a psychosomatic disorder.

Many people are unaware that migraine pain can also be felt in the neck and shoulders. Migraine pain is real physical pain and not just something a person thinks about.

A lot of studies have been made as to the real origin of migraines but there is no concrete answer even up to this day. Only migraine triggers have been identified which may include stress, extremes in temperature, and changes in diet like caffeine withdrawal for some. These have been found to precipitate migraine attacks.

Even a simple headache has many variants. This is the very reason why it can be hard for medical practitioners to determine if a person is suffering from migraine or a simple headache. Even the symptoms of migraine are not the same for everyone which adds to the difficulty in making the correct diagnosis.

While you can reduce the number of times you can get a migraine attack by changing your diet and modifying your way of living, you can't stop yourself from getting migraine attacks. As there is no exact etiology, migraines have no known cure. The symptoms are dealt with as they appear.

It is not true that only women get migraines. Men also suffer from migraine but women are more than likely to suffer from it. Studies show that the female sex hormone makes the incident of migraine common in women than in men.

Children can suffer from migraine attacks too. But since stress is more prevalent in adult groups, migraine attacks are seen more in adults.
